Who we are?
We rescue perfectly good ingredients and upcycle them into delicious, sustainable food products—without compromising on quality or taste. From the world’s first wonky bread subscription box to innovative launches like our E&W IPA Naan Beer and upcycled flatbread range, we’re rethinking food waste and making circular food accessible.
Through our pledge to donate 100,000 meals every year, we’re also helping fight food poverty and supporting communities in need.
Earth & Wheat is a purpose-led brand born from our family bakery, created to tackle food waste at its source. Like the food system we’re working to change, we’re not perfect—but we’re constantly striving to do better. Every product we develop is made with our planet in mind, as we work toward a more sustainable, less wasteful future.
PRODUCTS
We do recommend reheating some products to ensure that you have the best eating experience.
If you choose to reheat your bread, best practice dictates that you add a splash of water and pop into the toaster, microwave, or oven (but keep an eye on it!)
If reheating from frozen, please remember to consume within 24 hours after defrosting.
Some breads do, and some do not! We try to rescue whatever our partner suppliers are producing… There can be a perception about preservatives which we need to overcome so that we can reduce bread waste. For example, addition of salt or baking powder, calcium propionate or vinegar can all assist with increasing shelf life – an increased shelf life means a longer time you will have to enjoy and eat your fresh bread before it goes off and ends up in the bin. In many respects, preservatives can be our best friends in the fight against food waste!
Absolutely! We can be quite generous with our wonky bread… we therefore encourage you to freeze your baked goodness as soon as possible and then defrost and consume as you please. When you freeze immediately, it locks in the freshness and prevents it going stale or mouldy (and therefore prevents food waste)! Please remember that you should freeze your bread before the ‘Best Before’ date, and once you defrost your bread you should eat it within 24 hours! Do not keep bread frozen for more than one month.
The environment is very important to us and we are currently working on a suitable sustainable packaging solution that supports the environment and keeps your food fresh.
We are glad you asked! Our bakeries are audited and have the highest accreditations and standards for food safety.
Accreditations include BRCGS, AIB, and IFS. For smaller bakeries which are not audited by these bodies, Earth & Wheat carries out regular audits to ensure boxes are safe and to the correct standard.
Our partners must pass all relevant standards concerning hygiene and food safety. Furthermore, we may audit suppliers within the ingredients supply chain to ensure that they are operating to the same high standards we expect. This includes our ethical standards which we always maintain.
